OpenVPM

OpenVPM is a free, open-source, API-first veterinary practice management system (PIMS). Clinics use it for client and patient records, scheduling, medical records (SOAP notes, vaccinations, prescriptions, lab results), append-only controlled-substance logs, billing, inventory, reminders and a client portal. It ships a versioned REST API with scoped keys and HMAC-signed webhooks, an optional AI agent with explicit opt-in for every write, and multi-tenant isolation enforced by PostgreSQL row-level security. Clinics can self-host it with Docker Compose. Veterinary software is dominated by closed, expensive vendors; OpenVPM gives small clinics with no IT staff an open, secure system of record they control.
