SceneView is a community-maintained open source project, started in 2021 as the successor of Google's discontinued Sceneform. It has no legal entity of its own: it is fiscally hosted by Open Source Collective, a US 501(c)(6) non-profit that holds the project's funds, signs agreements, issues invoices and publishes every incoming contribution and every expense on a public ledger. Funds are never paid to an individual maintainer; they pay for what the project consumes (build and test infrastructure, test devices, maintenance tooling, security work).
