Freedom of the Press Foundation

Freedom of the Press Foundation (FPF) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization dedicated to protecting and defending public interest journalism. FPF builds and maintains open-source security tools that help journalists and whistleblowers communicate securely, provides digital security training to media professionals, documents press freedom violations, and engages in advocacy for the protection of journalists' rights.

SecureDrop is the only system that news organizations can use to gain secure, anonymous source communication with large file-sharing capabilities. Support from FLOSS will ensure that FPF can continue to maintain and strengthen SecureDrop as the digital landscape continues to evolve. It will also allow us to strengthen the next generation of SecureDrop, the SecureDrop Workstation, which makes it faster and easier for journalists to communicate with sources and gather newsworthy tips for reporting, all while maintaining our rigorous safety and privacy standards.
