AMP is a very old tool, some parts of it still rely on technologies such as Apache Struts 1.x and JSP which was discontinued a long time ago. We plan to get rid of this technology and upgrade to something that is maintained.

The AMP software now requires a database with some existing predefined data. This makes it difficult to start anew or to make the tool more broadly available to the community. We need to update the code to make it work with a minimal set of data that is for example created upon startup, if missing

AMP has been created before robust database change management tools such as Liquibase or Flyway were created. Long time ago, we developed a module that would do similar tasks but was maintained by us internally. https://github.com/devgateway/amp/tree/develop/amp/xmlpatches However we do not currently have resources to do this and would like to port AMP to Liquibase, which is a separate project open source project that does more or less the same job https://www.liquibase.com

Running such a complex tool with so many java libraries, spring framework/security dependencies without installing security updates regularily is slowly going to bring the project to an abandonware status. When we work with implementations, we do our best to keep the updates done, but we do not have a separate fund to maintain the tool and it is always something that falls behind.
