Mass surveillance thrives on centralized systems and proprietary software that users cannot inspect or control. This campaign empowers people to migrate to decentralized, user-controlled platforms and to adopt encryption tools that make surveillance harder and more expensive. It calls on developers to build and deploy privacy-respecting infrastructure, and on users to leave systems that concentrate data into corporate and government warehouses. Supporting this effort strengthens global resistance to bulk data collection and reinforces the principle that privacy is impossible without free software.
