HA Desktop Widget

HA Desktop Widget brings Home Assistant controls and live sensor information to Windows, macOS, and Linux desktops. It provides a customizable dashboard, independent desktop pins, entity controls, charts, keyboard shortcuts, and alerts. The project is independently maintained and distributed under the MIT license.

The repository was created in August 2025. As of September 30, 2026, it has 88 GitHub stars, 7 forks, and 4,768 downloads of published application installers and archives. This download count includes repeated downloads, multiple platforms, and beta versions; it is not a count of unique users. Updater metadata and blockmap downloads are excluded.

The proposed funding would support ongoing maintenance, compatibility and regression testing, and documentation for the existing application.

Funding plan:
One-time support for approximately 250 hours of work over 12 months, using a proposed planning rate of USD 40 per hour: USD 6,000 for maintenance, bug fixes, and dependency/security updates; USD 3,000 for cross-platform compatibility and regression testing; and USD 1,000 for documentation and release guidance. These are proposed allocations, not past expenditure or guaranteed feature-delivery dates.

This request excludes hardware purchases and code-signing fees sought through separate applications. An Awesome Foundation Toronto application for equipment and signing support is pending, and other grant and hardware sponsorship requests are being prepared. No award from these applications is assumed in this budget. The project also accepts GitHub sponsorship. If funding overlaps, the allocation would be disclosed and adjusted rather than charging the same work or expense twice.
