With a focus on capturing lectures in the classroom, Opencast offers a highly automated solution to work with different recording devices. It covers all stages of the video lifecycle, from live streaming, recording (lecture capture), and video upload/ingests to processing/encoding, publishing, playing, and archiving video assets. It’s scalable from a one-server installation to mass production in the cloud and versatile to play with other academic (LMS, course catalogs etc.) or campus systems (BigBlueButton, Zoom). Additional modules exist, including, Opencast Studio for web-based video production, and a Video Annotation Tool.
