The Tor Project is a nonprofit organization that develops and maintains open source, privacy-focused tools to advance human rights and defend online freedom. We are best known for creating and maintaining the Tor network and Tor Browser, which enable secure, anonymous communication and browsing for millions worldwide. Our other most widely used projects include Tails – focused on offering privacy and anonymity at the level of the operating system – and Onion Services – which provide a way to offer a variety of crucial services with all the privacy and security goodness of the Tor network.
