As part of a larger project to transition RISC OS away from being written in hard-to-maintain AArch32 assembly language, we have identified the Display Manager as a candidate to be replaced. After first rewriting in a high level language it would then become far easier to extend with features to improve the user experience such as being able to adapt at run time to monitors being plugged and unplugged - at the moment it is necessary to restart the computer when the monitor is changed because the monitor's capabilities and display mode are only checked for at power on. Our funding target is 8400GBP.
